About.Scott Finlayson is running for Johnson County Treasurer (June 7, 2022 Primary and November 8, 2022 General Election). Public service is a passion for Scott Finlayson. He has been a public servant since 1989 when he enlisted to serve in the United States Navy. He is a veteran of Desert Storm and Desert Shield. He has served the public in the Muscatine County Attorney's Office (prosecuting), the Johnson County Attorney's office (civil attorney), the Eastern Iowa Regional Library (Trustee), the Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center (Chairperson), the Johnson County Sheriff's Office (Reserve Deputy) and currently is serving the public as the Lead Deputy in the Johnson County Treasurer's Office.
Scott has proven over the years that he is there for our community. From helping folks after the 2006 tornado to filling sand bags in the 2008 flood, Scott shows up when the call goes out. During our time with COVID, Scott and the Treasurer's staff worked hard to ensure that the service our citizens deserve was met by being open and available to the public. Scott is an attorney and a member of the Iowa Bar. The focus of his professional career has been in civil law and finance. Scott has been balancing Johnson County's books for nearly ten years, and is currently the Johnson County Treasurer's Lead Deputy. Scott knows he is lucky to be working with an amazing staff (who he hopes to make proud). Scott is experienced in the daily duties of the Johnson County Treasurer's Office and can continue to provide high-quality service from day one.
